The GX wheel does not mute the microphone

On Yeti GX, turn the scroll wheel to adjust microphone gain. Pressing that wheel toggles Audio Lock. Use the separate button below the wheel to mute or unmute, and verify the solid-red wheel LED rather than teaching the wrong press action.

No hardware mute is confirmed for Yeti Orb. If immediate physical privacy is a requirement, GX has the documented control. If software mute is acceptable, Orb can still serve as the selected USB input, but the app state should be visible and tested before joining a call.

Neither model proves an on-mic monitor path

The reviewed specifications do not list a headphone output or direct monitoring for Yeti GX or Yeti Orb. Connect headphones to the computer or an existing playback device. Do not enable software microphone playback merely to imitate a zero-delay monitor unless you have tested and accepted the delay.

Both models list Logitech G HUB options on supported desktop systems, and both have a basic USB audio path on Windows and macOS. Treat G HUB effects and controls as software features, not prerequisites for Discord to select the microphone. Record the exact G HUB and Discord device names if you use software processing or routing.

Both fit a 1/4-20 mount, but the desk setup differs

Yeti GX includes a desktop stand, a removable adapter, and a 2 m USB-C-to-USB-A cable. Its listed assembled envelope is 170 by 100 by 100 mm. Yeti Orb includes a removable desktop stand and a 1.8 m USB-C-to-USB-A cable, with a listed envelope of 196 by 115 by 115 mm.

Both list a 1/4-20 mounting thread. A third-party arm still needs enough load capacity, reach, clamp clearance, and a matching attachment. The GX removable adapter is included; do not assume an unlisted adapter ships with Orb.

1. Decide whether a physical mute and hardware gain control are required.
2. Confirm a USB-A data port or add a suitable USB data adapter.
3. Measure the desktop envelope or verify the arm and 1/4-20 attachment.
4. Select the microphone in the operating system, then in Discord, and test mute before adding G HUB processing.

Dynamic and condenser labels do not predict your room

Yeti GX is a dynamic microphone with a supercardioid pattern. Yeti Orb is a condenser microphone with a cardioid pattern. Those labels describe different transducer and pickup designs, but they do not establish which microphone rejects your keyboard, fan, speakers, or reflections better at your actual distance and gain.

GamingMics has not performed controlled listening tests on either exact unit. Choose from the required control, mounting, host, and complete-path differences, then run your own repeatable Discord and local recording checks during the return window. Console chat support remains unknown for both.
