PS5 microphone choices
Start with a headset made for PlayStation, or keep your working controller microphone. Check the exact input before buying a standalone USB mic.
Xbox party chat
Use a compatible controller headset or the correct licensed wireless edition. Generic USB microphones are not an Xbox shortcut.
Switch 2 GameChat already has a built-in microphone. Run the built-in microphone setup first. The original Switch uses game-specific chat paths.

Before joining a party
- Connect the exact headset dongle or supported USB microphone. Match the edition label to your console.
- Select the microphone input and check mute. On PS5, use Settings → Sound → Microphone.
- Run the console microphone check. Check game audio separately; hearing sound does not prove that chat can hear you.
