A USB plug does not prove PS5 voice-chat support. Start with a working controller microphone or a headset made for PlayStation, then check the exact input before buying a separate microphone.

The DualSense controller microphone is a useful starting point while you decide whether you need a separate microphone. If it already handles your party chat, test position, mute and input level before buying anything. A compatible controller headset or the exact PlayStation edition of a wireless headset is another complete path.
Audeze Maxwell 2 has separate Xbox and PlayStation editions. Razer BlackShark V3 Pro also separates platform editions. Choose the version intended for PS5 and its matching dongle, then select the headset microphone in console settings. The family name alone does not establish the contents or platform of the box you are buying.
QuadCast 2 S and Capsule Elite list PC and Mac connections, but their current model instructions do not confirm PS5 microphone input. For PS5 chat, keep a working controller mic or choose a supported PlayStation headset edition instead.
A PlayStation label can describe headphone sound without establishing the microphone input. PRO X 2 lists USB wireless stereo sound for PS5/PS4; run the actual console microphone test before relying on it for party chat. Hearing game audio is only half of the check.
A standalone microphone does not replace headphones or game-audio output. Decide whether game and chat audio will go to the microphone's headphone jack, a USB or HDMI audio device, a display, or the controller headset output. If you use the microphone's headphone output, verify the console exposes the intended output and adjust the device's microphone/headphone mix where provided.
If you already own a standalone microphone, confirm it appears as a PS5 microphone input before spending on a stand or arm. None of the standalone models in this shortlist has confirmed PS5 input support. For a connection that passes that check, measure cable reach, port type and speaking position; match any mount to the microphone thread, total supported weight and desk edge.
A headset that works on PS5 may not work on Xbox or Nintendo. Check the edition on the box: PlayStation and Xbox versions can include different wireless dongles or base stations.
After connecting the supported microphone, open Settings, Sound, Microphone and choose the input device. Check the console's microphone status and use Adjust Microphone Level while speaking from the planned position. PlayStation shows a target range for the input level; adjust the device or console control until ordinary speech sits in that range without relying on a whisper or a shout.
Test the device's hardware mute while the PS5 meter is visible. The meter should stop responding when mute is active and resume when released. If the microphone also has a headphone output, set listening level separately from microphone input level. Raising headphone volume does not raise the voice signal, and changing gain should not be used as a substitute for a usable listening level.
Then test in the intended party or game-chat path. A device appearing in settings establishes that PS5 sees it; the final check establishes that the intended application is using it. Keep controller mute, headset mute, and microphone mute states in view because any one of them can stop transmission depending on the route.
Keep the DualSense microphone if it meets your chat needs after the input-level and mute checks. Choose the exact PlayStation edition of a supported headset when you want game sound and a wearable microphone in one setup. Audeze Maxwell 2 and Razer BlackShark V3 Pro require the matching edition and dongle; confirm those names on the box before comparing controls.
We cannot recommend QuadCast 2 S or Capsule Elite as a confirmed PS5 microphone from the available documentation. A computer-compatible USB microphone is not a console buying recommendation. If you own one already, run the PS5 input test; if you are buying now, retain the working controller path or use the PlayStation headset options instead.
