Getting a clean recording

Speak a hand's width from the mic, slightly off to the side so your breath doesn't hit it.
Leave call processing off to hear the mic itself; turn it on to hear roughly what a browser call does to your voice.
Send the file to a friend before buying a new mic: what sounds bad to them is often distance, gain or the room, not the mic.
