Do USB mics work on Xbox?

No: Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One don't take USB mics for party chat. What works is a headset in the controller's 3.5 mm jack, or a wireless headset made for Xbox (its Xbox edition). A USB mic still works for Xbox party chat if you join it on a Windows PC.

Ways to get your voice into Xbox chat

Headset in the controller

Any wired headset with a mic in the controller's 3.5 mm jack. Older controllers without a jack need Microsoft's stereo headset adapter.

Wireless headset, Xbox edition

Headsets sold in an Xbox edition connect to the console directly or with their own dongle. The PlayStation edition does not carry Xbox chat.

Party chat on a Windows PC

Join the party in the Xbox app or the Game Bar (Windows key + G). There, any mic Windows can use works, including USB and XLR setups.

  • FIFINE, for one, states outright that its AM8 does not work on Xbox: Xbox consoles don't accept third-party USB audio devices.
  • Plugging a USB mic into the console does nothing for chat, even if the mic lights up.
  • Mic monitoring (hearing yourself) is set in Volume & audio output for headsets that support it.

Every model on Xbox

Supported means the maker states this console for that connection. Not confirmed means the maker says nothing either way. Select a model for its full setup.
