Do USB mics work on PS5?

Often, yes: the PS5 takes many USB mics and headsets in its USB ports. But only some makers say their mic works there, so the table below marks a model as working only when its maker states it. Wireless headsets need the PlayStation edition of their dongle. The controller's built-in mic and its 3.5 mm headset jack always work.

Ways to get your voice into PS5 chat

USB mic in the console

Plug it into a USB port on the PS5, then pick it under Input Device. If your headset plugs into the mic's headphone jack, pick the mic as the output too.

Headset in the controller

Any wired headset with a mic works in the DualSense's 3.5 mm jack. The PS5 switches to it as soon as you plug it in.

Wireless headset

Use the PlayStation edition's USB dongle. An Xbox-edition dongle does not carry PS5 chat.

Controller mic only

The DualSense has a mic built in. It also hears your TV, so turn the TV down or use a headset if friends hear the game.

  • An XLR mic, an audio interface or a mixer is not a PS5 input unless its maker says so; most say nothing.
  • Party chat is in Game Base. Some games use their own chat settings on top of the system ones.
  • The controller's mute button mutes you in chat, whichever mic you use.

Every model on PS5

Supported means the maker states this console for that connection. Not confirmed means the maker says nothing either way. Select a model for its full setup.
